Thank you for the video! But how do you adjust pressure from pex supply line? Since its 40 psi there
I keep an old bicycle inner tube around for this purpose which I used tonight. Always have an assortment of clamps on hand.
I'm having the hardest time finding a repair kit for my nibco 90 anti siphon water spigot. It's as if my model doesn't exist.
Just asked my insurance company about discounts and they would drop my premiums by $20 annually. What a deal! I could get a whole extra meal from chipotle for spending $1000+ on a system saving them $100,000+. America FUCK YEAH
Who sells that grease head?? I haven’t seen that one..
This video was a life saver! Thank you! Didn’t have a gasket to hand but some gorilla waterproof patch and seal with a jubilee clip worked a treat!
In our old house it has 3/4 inch line. The line from meter in house to about 25 ft is 3/4 and changes to 1 inch. The line is in basement and feeds one floor. Off the 1 inch line it changes to 1/2 inch. Only one full bath and a kitchen. This makes no sense to me. Shouldn’t it be 1 inch if any to 3/4 to half inch. Why in middle of run did thry start from meter with 3/4 than switch to one inch and then go to half inch?
Thanks! We’re ‘pex-folks’ and are exploring transitioning to be more a than b- your video is great- we’re not as cold as you are-(UT) and have been to worry about the temperature issues. We already have the expansion tool 😊 Now we’re finding the fittings at supply houses are not comparable ($) to your chart. We’re convinced but need cost effective supply. (We’re a husband/wife team w/40+ years experience) Thanks for your comparison! You’re fun and informative 😊
Thank you, this was very helpful and solved the problem!!
Very good video with the pros and cons, but you didn't address the elephant in the room. Anyone who is familiar with Aldyl A (the plastic pipe used in hundreds of thousands of miles of natural gas pipeline) or Polybutylene (the grey plastic pipe commonly installed in houses between late 70's and mid 90's) would rightly be concerned with the longevity of any plastic pipe. Both products failed catastrophically with enormous costs to the customer. So my question is - does either type of PEX come with a warranty that is at least as good as copper?
The BEST!
Good information. Thanks for sharing. Have you ever had a chance to use the Boshart Industries Pex-A or Pex-B fittings? And if you have what do you think of them compared to the brass or plastic Pex-A and Pex-B fittings? And would you consider doing a video on them? Thanks for your time. Ron
Thanks for the thorough video! How can I tell the model of my valve by the way? Thanks
I’m 7 years in as a plumber and this video helped me way more than the Trac pipe class. Thank you!!
Thank you! Great job!
Excellent info thanks!
PEX is a polyethylene material which has undergone a change in molecular structure using a chemical or a physical process whereby the polymer chains are chemically linked. Crosslinking of the polymer chains of polyethylene (HDPE) into PEX for pipes results in improved properties such as elevated temperature strength and performance, flexibility, chemical resistance, environmental stress crack resistance (ESCR), resistance to slow crack growth (SCG), toughness, and abrasion. Crosslinking makes PEX a "semi-thermoset" polymer, providing excellent long-term stability.
Nice guy. Now that you have mastered your trade, have served the company over 18 years, give them a big thanks and start your own business: make triple of what you are making!!!!
I have the REAPER head and it does it all.
Which one did you get, the 1/4 head? What psi and gpm are you using? I think that would take care of 80% of anything I would do, and a reverse turbo would finish it up for me.
What if you are running those to a maniblock?
can you launch it
They have a place as a diy repair where readily serviceable .
Ada girl !
I was all onboard with pex A but my city water supply uses chloramine which pex b is much more resistant to that.
this is the best and clearest explanation of drainage sizing i've seen in youtube, and its also UPC compliant. This will help alot in my review for my licensure exam! Thank you very much! Greeting from the Philippines!
How can I thank this man ? I will give back to the next generation when myself become a foreman, I do have a question just started as an apprentice what should I first start studying ? What books should I invest in ? The math ? Etc. I appreciate all perspective and answer , may god bless you and protect all you loved ones
I just realized I used pex.b pipe with pexa expansion tool and cold fitting. Is that ok?
Really proud of you Jared ❤
Thanks brother
I got a couple questions, and sorry if these were already addressed. 1) Does elevation or length of run matter? It's my understanding that friction losses in long pipe and head pressure from vertical rises will both reduce the pressure. 2) what do you do for hose bibs and sillcocks? 3) How does a localized reduction effect these calcs? My rur199in tankless water heater is rated for 11gpm, but it only has 3/4" fittings for cold in and hot out. Service is 1". 4) my service has a 10-15ft length where it jumps up to 1.25". It's 1" coming in and 1" before branching out, but there is this unusual section of larger pipe used for no apparent reason. Why is this?
Why don’t consumers just use wipes made out of starch?
great video. very clear instructions thanks
Say theoretically in your diagram prior to the meter is 1/2 or 3/4 on the residential side of the meter someone already put 1 inch? How does this affect our calculations?
It's not often companies can nail a post on their social media, but you guys nailed it with this upload. Great job, and a gem of an employee you guys got there! Haha.
Thanks for this informative video.
I know this is basic for you but I am struggling. I have 3/4” steel pipe coming in. After about 10’ it splits into two half inch lines. One line is about 16’ long and runs a 50k but furnace. The other is about 13’ long and I am curious if it will support a 160k but tankless. This is all propane. The regulator is at the house and is 11-13” wc I tested the pressure at the drip leg of the old tank. It is 9” wc with the furnace running.
He never addresses outside spigots...

I love this video, I`m really appreciate to share it and really easy way to explain, me as a second years apprenticeship understand the subject perfectly.
One question... you sized meter at 3/4" and bldg supply 1" (at 6:46 seconds) but at 6:53 sec you highlight that 1" line would cally 30 WSFU.... but that row is for a 1" meter. Should you have used 28 OR can you use the higher of the two bldg supply line sizes?
Thank you for posting this - I am/will use to size my house repiping job.
my dad is not a plumber but back in the late 70s he replaced all the water lines in our house. the main line coming in from the well is 3/4". he put in what looks like 3/8" to everything. water pressure is ok until anything else is turn on. then it awful.
I did all the steps just to have it ask for payment. Smh
How do that if everything is behind the garage wall and just a spigot is sitting outside of it
My spigot is a Woodford and looks very similar to this, but the valve stem does not just pop out like yet. I'm a little stuck on this step right now
Great Job.. very simple to understand..
Thanks to whoever or whatever inspired you to acquire meaningful and awesome teaching skills! Moreover , it speaks volumes about your character for taking the time to assist, teach, coach and develop those (of us) that love this profession 🪠🚽🏆
thank you for your explanation. but how to determine the size of the make cold water line that supplies the storage tank ?
What a superb, clear, professional presentation. I am just about to plumb an entire off-grid farmhouse with three kitchens & two bathrooms. This was extremely helpful. Thanks.
Great video! Using it as an introduction to the Trades for my junior high students. =)
